Wood Shop & Prep Shop
The wood shop is
basically a large pre-cutting, preparation and pre-assembly area for cabinet
installation department. Premium grade plywood is carefully
processed on CNC routers, panel saws, table saws, routers and edge banders. CNC
routers are fully computerized and automated for optimal
efficiency and operator safety.
Rather than assembling
the cabinetry in the van on the assembly line, we use a method we call
"modularization" whereby most of the cabinetry and other woodwork
are pre-assembled in the wood shop. "Modularization" allows
more consistent quality through the use of jigs, templates and a more ergonomically designed
work area. It is also takes much less time than assembling inside the
vans on the line.
Pre-assembled cabinet "modules" are constructed with screws and adhesives to
ensure strength and durability.
Cabinet assembly
involves more than just woodwork such as installation of plumbing and propane components,
wiring and miscellaneous hardware.
To create interior wall panels, fabric is laminated using nontoxic water-based adhesive.
Many raw materials from metal to upholstery are prepared in quantity for the various installation
departments.
